I was born in a family where the I Ching was not just a book on the shelf — it was part of everyday life. My grandfather was a respected practitioner of Chinese metaphysics in our hometown. Even as a child, I remember sitting beside him as he consulted the I Ching for neighbors who came seeking guidance on marriages, business ventures, and life decisions. The way he would carefully toss the three coins, record each line, and then speak with quiet certainty about what the hexagrams revealed — it left a deep impression on me.

When I was 16, my grandfather formally began teaching me the tradition. It started with memorizing the 64 hexagrams — their names, their structures, their core meanings. Then came the study of the Ten Wings, the ancient commentaries attributed to Confucius. We would spend hours analyzing individual lines, discussing how a single changing Yao could transform the entire meaning of a divination. It was rigorous, patient learning — the kind that cannot be rushed.
After my grandfather passed, I continued the practice on my own, deepening my understanding through years of study, consultation, and teaching.
